The Fate of the Children of Lir – A Workshop Inspired By Irish Myth

The Children of Lir is one of the most popular and well known of Irish Myths. The story of children being turned into swans by their stepmother has been told to children and adults alike and has been handed down from generation to generation. Working with myth has the power to enrich and to heal personal experiences and to awaken individuals to different dimensions and goals of their lives.

The story of The Children of Lir is so powerful that it can touch us at a deep level. The characters bring to us real life issues such as love, joy, loss, jealousy and anger. Throughout the story we witness the ability of the human spirit to deal with, and to adjust to what life offers. We will explore the journey of the children from their transformation into swans, to their demise nine hundred years later.

The aim of the workshop

This is an experiential workshop. The aim of the workshop is to work creatively with the story of The Children of Lir through using drama, Gestalt, movement and voice to explore your inner realms and the nature of myth as a path to inner healing and truth. The workshop is an invitation to participants to discover and express the dimensions of their own inner drama in a way that is both safe, and creative. I trained with and assisted Paul Rebillot for 10 years in Ireland, Germany and San Franscisco. I created the Children of Lir Workshop, inspired by my relationship with Paul’s work. Paul Rebillot is the creator and facilitator of widely-known workshops such as ‘The Hero’s Journey’, ‘Death and Resurrection’, and ‘The Lover’s Journey’.
